will continue to bring you the latest on the victims and the investigation. >>> baltimore city is dealing with another violent attack after a woman allegedly pulls a knife at a middle school. wjz is live at the national academy foundation in east baltimore where this unfolded. investigator mike hellgren details the response. >> reporter: a school employee confronted this woman because she never checked in at the front desk and that's when school administrators say she attacked. the second violent encounter on a baltimore citi campus in a week happened here at national academy foundation. a woman was buzzed into the locked doors of the prep building where middle schoolers attend classes. but administrators say she failed to check in at the front office. they say she was delivering a birthday cake to a relative when a schoolworker challenged her in the hall. she pulled out a knife, cutting the worker's hands and was later arrested. it alarmed a grandmother of a student here who asked wjz not to identify her. >> i feel fearful for my grandson also. now you have to go through a procedure befo

, good night. breaking news out of san jo. right now the san jose city is on lockdown >>> good evening, i'm elizabeth cook. >> i'm ken bastida. we have breaking news out of san jose. the san jose city college campus is on lockdown after unconfirmed reports of a gunman on campus. these are pictures from chopper 5 over the school now. campus police say the school has been locked down since 4:30 this afternoon. someone had record a person with a gun on -- reported a person with a gun on campus. people were ordered to close and lock doors and stay in. campus police say they are doing a room-by-room search of san jose city college but they have not confirmed that there ever is or was a gunman. they wouldn't confir it. earlier a professor said there are classes in the library with hundreds of people. we are keeping an eye on this. roads are shut down at bascomb and moorpark avenues around san jose city college and that's the situation right now. and we are keeping an eye on it and we'll report if we have any updates for you. >>> the tragedy in newtown, connecticut is spurring a national push

for students at san jose city college less than 24 hours after a lockdown. s.w.a.t. teams swarmed the campus yesterday after a caller reported seeing a gunman. heavily armed police officers searched the campus room by room during the three-hour lockdown. the 911 call came in yesterday afternoon. the caller reported seeing a male possibly armed with a gun at the tech center building. students and faculty were slowly released from classrooms as officers searched the entire five-story building. for many on campus of course it was a disturbing ordeal. >> we definitely barricaded down, sat there hushed our voices got away from the windows made sure we weren't near where anybody can look in. and we were worried. we were afraid. >> well, when all was said and done police were unable to find any indication that a gunman was on campus. but officers did say that they did a thorough search for the sake of caution. >>> more people are coming forward talking about previous interactions with connecticut gunman adam lanza. workers at a newtown hair salon with lanza and his mother were regular customers say

in oregon. >> the coast guard is working to clean up an oil spill leaking into a new york city strait. an oil tanker is leaking more than 100-thousand gallons of oil just off of staten island. crew members on the barge noticed the leak, and contacted an oil clean-up company to help in the efforts. waterways remain open as they clean-up the mess. boaters in the area are urged to take caution in the meantime. >> coming up on kron 4 news weekend. a mother whose son was in the classroom with the shooter in connecticut talks about the moment she learned about the shooting. and as we go to break. here are some of the names of the victims from friday's tragedy. exited the new york city area, starting to exit long island, too. from new york city southward, philly, d.c., a shower today, mainly dry. but 84, the mass pike, all of this region dealing with extremely heavy rain. the temperatures are warm enough, we don't have to worry about the roads. only in new hampshire and maine will deal with snow and sleet. the next storm is on its heels. this one providing snow in areas of utah. then it heads out to the plains. these are blizzard watches in effect for areas of kansas. this is a serious storm. then this stripe of heavy snow on the backside of it through wisconsin, nebraska and iowa. these are my first updateds from my computer of how much snow we could get. not a lot in denver, but from omaha, lincoln, des moines, ames, madison, green bay, you could have 6 to 12 inches of snow possible by the time it's done thursday night. the rain this morning will be exiting. the southeast is just fine. the midwest, you have one nice day today, and then that snowstorm is coming tomorrow. 6 to 12 inches, it looks like those areas will be guaranteed a white chris

be careful on the roadways. snow showers and flurries could make it into the boston and new york city area but the i-95 corridor is not expecting any accumulation. enjoy the quiet weather because monday and tuesday forks christmas day, messy weather across portions of the northeast. first out west, this is where we have a storm picking the region right now with strong winds, the lower elevation rain and we're talking feet of snow across the sierra. good news for anyone wanting to do skiing but if you are doing traveling out on the roadways on interstate 5 or parents we're talking about delays possible not just for today but even as we head into tomorrow with yet again another area of low pressure. it will be producing more snow, more rain and more strong winds across the west. big issues along west coast but tomorrow, we'll start to see rain in the southeast spreading into tennessee and ohio valley. by monday, christmas eve the northeast dealing with more rain and some of you will be cold enough for snow, temperatures, 31 in cleveland and 32 in chicago and 27 in the city of minneapolis. he

in effect. winter storm warnings from salt lake city right through eastern colorado and into the midwest. some of these are even blizzard warnings in effect. and the accumulating snow between now and, let's say, friday morning could be measured in feet in some of the higher elevations in the pacific northwest. it'll be rain in seattle and portland. but the mountains will see very heavy snow. could see a few inches with this storm around denver. but the real significant snows and the worst weather is going to run from omaha right through milwaukee. that's where we could see blizzard conditions and some very significant snows. maybe up to a foot of snow in some areas. chicago has gone without snow now for a record 289 days. that is the last time they had an accumulating snow. it looks like that streak is going to end by thursday night. we could see several inches of snow in chicago and very strong winds. maybe over 50 miles per hour with some blowing snow as well. >> david bernard, thanks. time to show you some of this morning's headlines from around the globe.
